The difference between push-in and screw-in cartridges

The differences are quite simple: Gas cartridges with a push-in or puncture mechanism don't have a valve; instead, they are pierced by a pin when attached to the device. It's crucial that the rubber seal surrounding the pin is clean. Only then can it create a reliable seal.

Screw-on gas cartridges, also known as valve cartridges, are screwed onto the device. As the name suggests, they are equipped with a valve that only releases gas when the cartridge is screwed on. Thanks to the ILL safety system (compliant with EN 417:2012), which is integrated into every WALTER valve cartridge, they can be removed and reused as often as needed.

What should be considered when storing WALTER gas cartridges?

Store unopened gas cartridges in a cool, dry place.
Sub-zero temperatures are no problem for these small containers – but heat is. Temperatures as low as 50°C are enough to cause the cartridges to leak or burst. Once opened, a cartridge must only be stored in well-ventilated areas. Caution! A cellar is not suitable. The gas inside is denser than air and therefore sinks. If the gas escapes from the cartridge, it can form invisible pockets, posing a danger to people and animals.

As a general rule, gas cartridges are not as robust as gas cylinders. Mostly made of tinplate, these cartridges have considerably thinner walls and are therefore more susceptible to damage from external influences.

This is how disposable gas cartridges are disposed of:

Once your WALTER gas cartridge is empty, it must be disposed of properly. Disposable cartridges are best taken to a recycling center.

Note: Non-resealable cartridges (pierceable cartridges) must not be removed from the device until their contents have been completely used up!
